The Cold Frame

This year I set out to build a cold frame. If you're not familiar with what a cold frame is, it's basically a box you keep outside that's got a clear top so that plenty of light can get in and you use it to start seeds or to harden off your young plants in the spring. It's sort of like a mini greenhouse.

I'm not terribly handy, I'm certainly not Mrs. Fixit, but I thought this might be a project I could actually do, and I was totally right! :)

My son helped me out, he did a great job too! Even used the drill a couple times!

I stapled some cardboard to the bottom to prevent any weeds from coming up through and we filled it with soil and a bit of compost afterward.​

We used this cold frame in the spring for our pepper plants, our sweet potato slips and many others, it works great!
