I'm sad.

It SNOWED yesterday. SNOW. In mid September. Not cool Mother Nature!

It's not that uncommon, but usually there's a little more warning! This was the forecast an hour before those fluffy flakes started falling:

See anything about flurries or snow or frost?! I don't!

There's a saying in Alberta, if you don't like the weather then go inside close the door, wait 5 minutes then open it and go back out! ;p

Since we are still in harvest mode here and trying to keep up with it all, there are plenty of things we just haven't done yet. We ended up having to dig out our tomato plants just before dark yesterday evening and setting them up in our dining room!

The tomatoes are my other big gardening mistake of the year. I wanted to try planting them in the ground this year instead of starting indoors. I SUCK at hardening off plants, I either leave them too long in the sun to bake or I forget to bring them in and freeze them all night! Either way they die and I'm sad again.

Unfortunately I don't have a greenhouse so starting them outdoors meant having to wait until it was warm enough and I suppose there's just not quite enough time in our short growing season here.

So! Now I have a dining room of tomato plants! I set up a grow light for them and hopefully they produce lots more fruits for us :)

Klaus the cat is happy either way :)
