Activism has become a way of life for me.

I had been donating to various causes here and there since I was 10 when I symbolically adopted a pet tiger from the WWF. It really took off years ago with the realization that just about EVERY product you see advertised and in store has been cruelly and inhumanely tested on animals. Previous to that I did not realize commercial tested actually existed. I knew that ingredients had been tested over the years but I failed to consider that they are constantly creating new ingredients.

Cosmetic testing is so unnecessary. There are plenty of great, safe ingredients for cosmetics that preform their job amazingly well. There is NO NEED for 'new' ingredients. We have an enormous amount of ingredients that have been proven safe years ago and therefore an endless amount of combinations.

I started shopping 'Cruelty Free' and really

researching the companies I was choosing to support. Voting with your dollar is virtually THE most important thing you can do in this world.

I was cruelty free for a year or two before I really became a 'food activist.' I began by reading labels and learning what these 20 letter long ingredients really were that seemed to be in everything I used to buy. I made some fairly easy choices like avoiding everything with MSG (Almost all chips) and Tartrazine (KD and many candies). I gave up most soft drinks, (I've been known to sneak a little root beer here and there, even now), I cut out most processed and packaged foods. The more I learned, the more I cut out.

The big breakthrough came about when we went to the first March Against Monsanto. I was inspired. The passion was amazing,

the turnout,

fantastic! After the march we offered ourselves up to the cause. With small children there wasn't a whole lot we could do but we kept at it. It's not just a fad for me, not something I can just quit. I am in this now. There's no going back because I can't 'unknow' what I've learned.

Don't ever think you can't do it too! Don't ever think you don't have the time. Don't believe you can't make a difference.

You absolutely can!

You decide every single day what kind of a world you want. Choose wisely.
